De gammabron FSG60 heeft een zeer lange levensduur dankzij de lange halfwaardetijd. Veelgebruikte standaard-isotoop in industriële procesmetingen.
Radioactieve isotopen worden gebruikt als gammastralingsbronnen voor continue niveau-, dichtheids- en interfacemeting en voor niveaudetectie. De radioactieve bron zit in een speciale bronhouder, wat de noodzakelijke bescherming vereist terwijl een gedefinieerde, vrijwel ongedempte, smalle straal in slechts één richting levert.
